Some argued for the ban: “The marijuana industry is promoting these devices to hide marijuana,” Bob Doyle, executive director for the Colorado Tobacco Education and Prevention Alliance, told Lakewood’s city council.

Marijuana consumption in public — via smoke, vape or edibles — is illegal in Colorado.

Others argued against the ban, though they were in the minority at this week’s meeting: “We already have laws that dictate where we can smoke marijuana,” said Tim Burgess, who sells e-cigs at his store on Colfax Avenue. “We don’t need more rules. We need more studies.”
