
A massive energy rally featuring GOP governor hopeful Bob Beauprez and other Coloradans as well as residents of Wyoming and Montana is scheduled for Tuesday, the same day the EPA will be in Denver for a hearing on its proposed regulations for power plants.
AFP Colorado will participate in a rally next week against a proposed EPA rule.
The slate of speakers from across Colorado and the Western region represent a “diverse set of industries and stakeholders” and will voice their concerns about EPA’s proposal and show their support for America jobs, affordable energy and U.S. energy independence, according to a news release.
The rally is scheduled to be held from noon to 3 p.m. at Lincoln Park’s Veteran’s Memorial between the state Capitol and the Denver City and Council Building.

The rule targets U.S. power plants reflects growing efforts to reduce one of the nation’s main sources of greenhouse gas linked to climate change. The rule would cut U.S. carbon dioxide emissions from existing coal power plants by up to 30 percent by 2030, roughly 500 million metric tons a year, using 2005 levels as a baseline.
Legal and political challenges loom, . In Colorado, coal mining provides around 2,000 jobs, which could be in jeopardy, said Stuart Sanderson, president of the Colorado Mining Association.
Other speakers at the anti-EPA rally include state Rep. Ray Scott of Grand Junction, Dustin Zvonek of Americans for Prosperity, Michael Sandoval of the Independence Institute, Ray Beck of the Craig City Council and Club 20, Mary Frontczak of Peabody Energy, Tony Gagliardi of NFIB Colorado-Wyoming, Jess La Buff and Jason Dean Small of Boilermakers Montana, Greg Kohn of the Montana Chamber of Commerce, Wyoming State Treasurer Mark Gordon, Bill Schilling of the Wyoming Business Alliance and Kim Floyd with AFL-CIO Wyoming.
