Getting your player ready...

Highlight: When it comes to the most popular teams in Colorado, it’s the Broncos and everybody else. But broaden the scope to the world, and . United stopped by Dove Valley and averted attention for a few minutes as John Elway posed with Manchester’s Denis Irwin, exchanging jerseys. After practice, the Broncos’ Matt Prater kicked field goals with members of AS Roma, who will square off against Manchester in a friendly on Saturday at Sports Authority Field.

Lowlight: Backup quarterback Brock Osweiler sits in an unusual position. No matter how well he plays, he’s not playing during the regular season, barring injury. Practices are his games, and he provided a pick six as defensive back David Bruton jumped a short route, reading Osweiler’s eyes on the play.

Position Battle: Starters win games, but depth often wins championships. The Broncos’ secondary has changed dramatically, leaving Omar Bolden and John Boyett competing for a reserve spot. Both enjoyed strong practices Friday. Bolden broke well on routes, and Boyett tightly covered Gerell Robinson on multiple plays. After making a reception, a frustrated Robinson threw the ball at Boyett, leading defensive tackle Terrance Knighton to engage in lively trash talk with the receiver.
