Re: “Should Denver shelter border children?,” July 23 letters to the editor.

I am curious how letter-writer Anthony T. Accetta knows these undocumented children coming to the U.S. are not sex-trade victims, but instead people “who are contributing to the anarchy … .” Every independent report that I have read satisfies me that their parents are doing this as a desperate last resort to save their children from violence in their home country. Maybe instead of this being a “callous political game, ” it is the people calling for the immediate return to the dangerous conditions that these kids escaped from who deserve to be called callous. Itap sad when we choose to disregard the facts and instead just go with what we want to believe.
