PUEBLO — The man who drowned in the Animas River in a piece of construction equipment has been identified as a 32-year-old contractor.
The Durango Herald reported that Charles William Huntoon Jr. was driving the “skid-steer.” The equipment toppled into the river upside down Monday, trapping Huntoon inside for about 40 minutes.
Authorities say Huntoon was backing toward the river with an attachment on the skid-steer when the bank caved in.
