Interview with Stephanie Von Strohe, owner
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: Growing up, I was always interested in hair style and color. Every time I would go see my stylist, Rand, I would ask him a million questions. I loved doing my friends’ hair for homecoming, or just for fun. After a year of doing the traditional college thing, I decided to follow my interest and check out cosmetology school. Rand took me on a tour and I fell in love and signed up immediately. I have loved my decision every day since.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: I pride myself on really listening to what my clients want and giving them the best service possible. I am also very honest with my clients and if I don’t think something will look the way they expect it to, I suggest something that will complement them.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: I love helping people look and feel better about themselves, whether it be a simple cut or a full-on hair makeover, making my clients happy is what makes my job so enjoyable.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
A: I just opened my own salon after working for years in salons where speed was the goal, to get a client in and out quickly. My challenge now is to give each client the time required to ensure that their service is handled professionally and to their satisfaction.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: I went to one of the top-rated beauty schools in Colorado and while there took advanced training in New York at the Matrix Global Academy. I not only do cuts and color, but also facial and arm waxing, hair extensions and up-do’s and make-up for special occasions.
