Furniture Row Racing announced that Martin Truex Jr. will miss this weekend’s qualifying and practice sessions at Michigan International Speedway. His longtime girlfriend, Sherry Pollex, was recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Truex will join the team Saturday and race on Sunday.
NASCAR Camping World Series reigning champion Matt Crafton will sub for Truex on Friday.
“Everyone at Furniture Row Racing extends their thoughts and prayers to Sherry during her treatment and recovery period,” said Joe Garone, Furniture Row Racing’s general manager. “She is a devoted supporter of our race team and we can’t wait for her return to the track.”
