A worker was injured Tuesday morning in the Denver Tech Center area when a flame flashed from a hole he was digging.
The incident happened about 9:30 a.m. at 5555 Greenwood Plaza Blvd., said Becky O’Guin, a South Metro Fire Rescue Authority spokeswoman.
The worker was using a post hole digger when the tool hit a buried high-voltage power line, O’Guin said.
“The electrical line exploded on him,” O’Guin said.
The injured worker, who was installing a sign, was taken to a local hospital.
Electricity was out in the area for a little over an hour and a portion of East Berry Avenue was temporarily closed by the incident.
