Denver Water expects that a water main break that tied up traffic during Thursday afternoon’s rush hour, will be repaired by midnight and southbound Colorado Boulevard should be reopened by 5 a.m.
Traffic on southbound Colorado has been shut down at East Louisiana Avenue for more than 9 hours after the water main break flooded the busy arterial.
The incident happened about 2:25 p.m., said Denver Fire Department spokesman Mark Watson.
The 12-inch-diameter pipe was installed in 1955.
Crews with Denver Water are at the scene, no injuries have been reported.
