Those zany liberals at ProgressNow Colorado have come up with 11 reasons why Bill Maher should choose Colorado’s 6th Congressional District as a district to flip and kick out the incumbent, Republican Rep. Mike Coffman.

Included in n:

No. 2. He thinks legal weed is bad for Colorado (Tip for ProgressNow: .)

No. 5..

No. 9. He s *that* English-only guy.

Coffman faces Democrat Andrew Romanoff, former speaker of the Colorado House, in November.

Surprisingly, Coffman’s campaign welcomes the HBO talk show host, too, and even managed to work the word “Marine” into its sizzling explanation of why. Drink!

“Of course Bill Maher, HBO and Hollywood are gaga for Andrew Romanoff. He’s one of their own — an upper crust, Ivy League, bourgeois liberal,” campaign manager Tyler Sandberg said. “Poor Mike Coffman never had a chance with a guy like Maher — Mike’s a Marine, prefers scrambled eggs to quiche and he’s never even been to the Oscars.

“If Bill Maher wants to make an HBO special about why Romanoff is wonderful and Nancy Pelosi should be speaker again, this is America and that’s his prerogative.

“Maher has lots of warm things to say , and a slew of tirades about how stupid Americans are, so we say — the more who watch the Maher-Romanoff HBO love-in, the better.”

Maher is the liberal host of Real Time with Bill Maher, who came up with what he called “an exciting world of outright meddling with the political process, .’ He asked viewers to weigh in and “let us know which of these bloated ticks on America s hide needs to be burnt off with the mighty cigarette of democracy. Coffman made the Final Four; Maher will reveal the loser/winner on Sept. 12.

But it’s not clear how Maher made the Final Four, other than Colorado’s highly mobilized liberal movement. The Aurora-based congressman doesn’t appear to meet Maher’s bid specifications.

Maher said on his blog he’s targeting “terrible, entrenched congressmen.” Terrible’s a value judgment to be decided by the voters, but entrenched? Hardly. Coffman was first elected in 2008, and after the district was redrawn following the 2010 census it’s now one of the . He faces former House Speaker Andrew Romanoff, a Democrat.

“So if you live in a district where your congressman has gotten a little too comfy, we want to hear about it! Take to Twitter,” Maher said when he announced his idea.

Comfy? Comfy? Coffman nearly lost in 2012 to a who didn’t run a great campaign. Coffman’s out there learning in attempt to pick up every vote this year.
