
Sheridan has a new library, and the public is invited to its grand opening Saturday, Sept. 13.
The new facility occupies 10,000 square feet at 3425 W. Oxford Ave. The celebration begins at 9 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting and includes refreshments and music.
The library includes a conference room, two study rooms, and an indoor/outdoor fireplace, according to a news release from White Construction Group. The building also has skylights and “carpet that was selected from a ‘grab bag’ of recycled tiles creating a colorful and imaginative pattern throughout,” the company said.
The new building replaces the 3,200 square foot library that had been housed in Sheridan High School since 1972. .
“The new Sheridan Library, which will triple in size compared to the current facility, will feature public computers, meeting rooms, comfortable reading areas and a teen space with computers and gaming equipment,” Cynthia Kiyotake, the manager of neighborhood libraries for the Arapahoe Library District, said in a . “The new facility has received a grant to become a Family Place Library and will include parenting books, library staff trained in family support and offer parent/child workshops focusing on childhood literacy.”
