COLORADO SPRINGS — The 17-year-old driver in the crash that killed two Palmer Ridge High School students and injured a third will be charged as a juvenile with vehicular homicide and vehicular assault, a magistrate ruled Friday.
Prosecutors asked that the teen remain detained, but he will be released to his parents as soon as 24-hour tracking with Parker authorities is set up. The teen was visibly upset and crying while talking with his parents and his attorney before proceedings.
The courtroom was packed with students from Palmer Ridge, the Monument school attended by seniors Beau Begier and Ryan Pappas, who died in the wreck early Monday.
Jack Mitchell Clark, 17, suffered serious injuries that are not life-threatening and was listed in fair condition at Penrose Hospital on Friday.
