CHEYENNE — Wyoming won’t need to put up as much money as originally planned to help a Colorado producer of ammunition magazines for guns to move its manufacturing operations to Cheyenne.

The Wyoming State Loan and Investment Board next week will consider lowering the amount of state grant money for Magpul Industries from the previously approved $13 million to $8.3 million.

Erie-based Magpul decided to move its production, distribution and shipping operations to Cheyenne and its headquarters to Texas after Colorado enacted gun control laws last year.

Shawn Reese, of the Wyoming Business Council, says the revised financial package came about because a cheaper and quicker way was found for housing the company’s operations in Cheyenne.

Magpul intends to be ready to occupy a building in Cheyenne as soon as November.
