A Weld County man was sentenced to 30 years in prison for stabbing his estranged wife eight times.
Jimmy Manzanares, 44, pleaded guilty in Weld County District Court Friday to first-degree criminal attempt to commit murder, and committing a crime of violence, which carries a stipulated 30-year sentence.
The attack occurred in September 2013. According to the Weld County District Attorney’s office, the victim had been stabbed at least eight times in her upper body. The woman survived the attack and said Manzanares was the assailant. At the time of the attack, the woman was under a protection order, preventing Manzanares from having any contact with her.
