Firefighters in Denver extinguished a blaze that started at a gas pump near downtown Wednesday morning, the Denver Fire Department said.

The fire happened about 9:30 a.m. at a Conoco near the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Santa Fe Drive. Photos of the charred remnants of the blaze showed a scorched gas pump and destroyed car.

Roads in the area were closed briefly as crews extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported, although four gas pumps were burned, said Mark Watson, a department spokesman.

The fire is under investigation, although it does not appear suspicious, the department said.
