A maintenance worker at a Lakewood apartment complex has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a child.
Angel Gavino Alcaraz, 57, a registered sex offender, is being held at the Jefferson County Jail, according to a Lakewood Police Department media release.
Lakewood police obtained an arrest warrant for Alcaraz in relation to an alleged June sex assault of an 8-year-old girl in the 700 block of Miller Court.
The assault took place at an apartment complex where Alcaraz worked. Alcaraz allegedly separated the victim from other children at the complex before assaulting her, police said.
The suspect also did maintenance work at a complex in Arvada, the Terrace Park Apartments. He is under investigation for similar crimes in Arvada, according to police.
