BOULDER — In light of Colorado’s improved running attack the past two weeks, Colorado coach Mike MacIntyre was asked if a balanced offense — production from both the run and the pass — is important to him.

It depends, MacIntyre replied.

“You want to be balanced (offensively). I think that puts pressure on the defense,” MacIntyre said. “But if they’re playing a soft two-shell, and you can run the ball for 250 yards and throw it for 150 or whatever, (that’s OK).

“But if they’re pressuring, blitzing, and you know running is like beating your head against the wall, then we’re going to throw it more.

“So I think it depends on what the (opposing) defense is doing to you,” he added. “And sometimes it’s where you are in the game. If you’re ahead, you might run it more. But if you’re down and know you have to catch up (you might throw it more).”

For the record, is yielding an average of 242.3 yards per game through the air and 131 on the ground.
