Denver International Airport has a new advisory committee comprised of industry and business leaders.

The Airport Advisory Committee, announced Thursday, will advise the airport and Mayor Michael Hancock on DIA’s future as it continues to grow and compete for global air traffic.

The council is modeled after the FAA’s Management Advisory Council, to which Hancock was appointed in January.

The announcement comes at a time when several big-ticket items at DIA are under scrutiny. The airport’s hotel and transit center project, originally budgeted at $500 million, now looks to . Additionally, the city auditor is investigating a snafu involving a $39.6 million contract awarded under Denver’s minority/women business enterprise program, where only .

Additionally, a dispute between Denver and Adams County over continues.

The 15-member committee will meet quarterly and members will serve for one-year terms, according to the release. Members include former Denver Mayor Federico Peña, U.S. Travel Association president Roger Dow, Colorado real estate developer Chad McWhinney and Denver City Council president Chris Herndon.
