A man was struck by a pickup truck and killed in Aurora Friday afternoon, apparently after darting into traffic.
Aurora Police said the unidentified man was hit on East Colfax Avenue, just west of Boston Street, at approximately 5:52 p.m. According to police, the man crossed Colfax from south to north directly in front of the pick-up. The pedestrian was struck by the pick-up and landed on the right side of the roadway.
He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 7:57 P.M.
Police said the driver of the pickup stopped immediately and is cooperating with the investigation. The driver was uninjured.
Neither excessive speed nor intoxication is suspected with the driver, police said, adding that the account from independent witnesses and other indications point to the pedestrian being at fault.
Police said they do not expect charges to be filed.
