WELD COUNTY — “Eyes and prayers,” said Kandace Diekman when asked what help she needs from the public to recover her stolen puppies.

Five English bulldog puppies were stolen from a Weld County farm early Saturday morning. The puppies are believed to have been taken between 12:45 a.m. and 7 a.m.

Diekman went outside to check on the farm around 2:30 a.m. and found nothing amiss, but she hadn’t checked the shop, where the five purebred English bulldog pups were kept in kennels.

Diekman said they had shown the dogs to many people that day but she had been very careful not to give out her address to just anyone.

She instead would give directions only right before they came.

The puppies were reasonably hidden in the shop, and they were in closed kennels, so there is no possibility they escaped.

She said she believes someone who saw the puppies during the day came back to commit the theft, and they brought extra hands.

“I know that it was at least three people because Moose alone is 25 pounds,” she said. “They climbed over a fence, hiked a half mile down the driveway and then hiked another half mile back with the puppies.”

Diekman believes the thieves stole the puppies to make some quick money.

Normally, they are worth about $2,500 each.

Diekman and her boyfriend, Michael Cruz, have raised the 13-week-old puppies since birth. Cruz said the puppies are sick with a cold right now and they need to be home, where they can be cared for properly.

Diekman said she thinks that eyes and prayers are the best help right now.
