There has to be something in Colorado’s water of late.
A week after Air Academy’s Adam Brown set the state’s single-game record for most passing yards, a quarterback-receiver combo found themselves etching their names into the books.
D’Evelyn junior Owen Burke completed 23-of-38 passes for five touchdowns and 535 yards — the latter is No. 5 all-time, according to Colorado High School Activities Association records. His primary target was junior receiver Cameron Brown, who had 11 catches for 316 yards and all five TDs. Brown’s yards are the third-highest all-time and his five TD receptions would tie him for third.
D’Evelyn beat Lewis-Palmer 34-33.
Lewis-Palmer sophomore running back Charley Young was the star for the Rangers with 331 rushing yards on 32 carries and four TDs.
