COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — The fate of a teenager accused of killing a Fort Carson soldier and his pregnant wife during a burglary now rests in the hands of a jury.
KKTV reports (http://bit.ly/YML37v ) that deliberations begin Tuesday in the trial of 18-year-old Macyo January. He’s accused of the grisly 2013 killings.
Lawyers for the teen say he happened upon the scene after the newlyweds were killed.
He is charged as an adult with first-degree murder although he was 17 at the time Staff Sgt. David Dunlap and Whitney Dunlap were killed.
Police say the newlywed couple’s home security provider alerted them that their burglar alarm was activated and they were killed after going home to check on it.
