Copper Mountain Resort started snowmaking late Monday night signifying the impending start of ski and snowboard season, officials said.

More than two inches of natural snow covered the slopes when snowmaking guns lining Upper Andy’s and Copperopolis trails began dispensing their white powder, the resort said.

The snowmaking is in preparation for Copper Mountain’s opening day on Oct. 31, the resort said.
