The Broncos on Tuesday worked out former Lions running back Mikel Leshoure and LaRod Stephens-Howling, both of whom left Dove Valley Headquarters without contracts.

The workouts come following the , the Broncos are working out several running backs at their Dove Valley Headquarters Tuesday.

LeShoure, 24, a former Lions second-round draft pick, rushed for 807 yards and nine touchdowns in three seasons with Detroit. He was released on Aug. 30.

Stephens-Howling spent four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals from 2009-12 at running back after being drafted in the seventh round in 2009. He played one game for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2013. He has 188 carries for 670 yards and five touchdowns.

Ball will be out several weeks after a magnetic resonance imaging exam Monday revealed a significant groin strain. He could be sidelined a month or more.
