This just in: The man who wants to serve a second term in the governor’s mansion has has been caught drinking and promoting Colorado beer.

With political attack ads flooding televisions, beer marketer extraordinaire and merry punster Marty Jones produced a spoof of the genre that exposes John Hickenlooper for spending time publicly backing the industry of which he was once part.

The Democratic governor was a co-founder of the Wynkoop Brewing Co., the pioneering Denver brewpub. Jones, a former Wynkoop marketing director, debuted the video during GABF Week at his inaugural Brew Night Show, which he billed as America’s first beer-focused talk and variety show and his “”

The ad – with Jones providing the over-the-top ominous voice-over – singles out Hickenlooper for drinking Colorado beer, installing beer taps in the governor’s mansion and at the Wynkoop in July.

Hickenlooper, who no longer has an ownership interest in the Wynkoop, spoke Saturday .

In his remarks, he highlighted the charitable efforts of Oskar Blues’ CAN’d Aid flood relief fundraiser, the industry’s economic impact and the current governor’s mansion tap list (beers from Lone Tree Brewing, Left Hand Brewing and Dry Dock Brewing).

Hickenlooper also drew a distinction with another booming industry to address concerns that craft brewing, which accounts for between 10 and 11 percent of the U.S. beer market, is becoming over-saturated:
