A man was pronounced dead at the scene of a motorized scooter accident Sunday night in Denver, officials said.

The accident took place at 46th Avenue and York Street at 9:17 p.m. Sunday, said Officer Everett Moore, a Denver Police Department spokesman.

Police originally thought the accident was a hit-and-run, but further investigation determined there was not another vehicle involved, Moore said.

“It looks like he might have lost control or just had a really bad accident,” Moore said.

Police closed the intersection to investigate.
