The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting that left a man dead early Sunday morning in Rocky Ford, officials said.
Otero County Coroner Robert Fowler confirmed Sunday night that one person died in the shooting. He said aditional information will be available after the autopsy is performed Monday.
KOAA in Colorado Springs is reporting family and friends say Jack Jacques, 27, was killed after being shot in the back.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is working with the 16th Judicial District Attorney’s Office and the 16th Judicial District’s Critical Incident Team to determine what happened Sunday, according to a news release from the CBI.
The officer involved in the shooting is on administrative leave pending the investigation, the release said.
The release said additional details will distributed by the 16th Judicial District Attorney’s Office as it becomes available.
