Getting your player ready...

The Denver Broncos at MetLife Stadium on Sunday as Peyton Manning inched closer to Brett Favre’s all-time passing TD record. Here were some of the best quotes from players and coaches after the game.

PEYTON MANNING, BRONCOS QB

On how the Jets handled the Broncos’ run game:

“The way the Jets played us, my guess was, they didn’t think much of our running game coming into the game. When you take your two linebackers and walk them both out on your two receivers, they’re basically kind of laughing at your running game. Based on what we’ve been doing, it was probably a valid philosophy.”

On his impending touchdown record:

“I don’t know if any of them are big necessarily for me, especially in the middle of the season. We’re trying to win football games. It’s tough. It’s a tough schedule. We have the 49ers next week at home. It’s the team that’s been one of the dominant teams in the NFL the past couple of years. That’s all I’m thinking about. I’m just trying to find a way to win the game. If Ronnie (Hillman) wants to run for four touchdowns next week, I promise you I’m in favor of that.”

I think it was a gritty victory. We came into a top-six defense in the league before we entered the stadium.

They had put up big numbers running the football. They’ve got some explosive players that can make

plays. We looked at the tape and we knew it was going to be tough. Any time you come on the road in a

hostile environment in this league is tough. That’s what I’d write.

JOHN FOX, BRONCOS COACH

On what he’d write about the game:

“I think it was a gritty victory. We came into a top-six defense in the league before we entered the stadium. They had put up big numbers running the football. They’ve got some explosive players that can make plays. We looked at the tape and we knew it was going to be tough. Any time you come on the road in a hostile environment in this league is tough. That’s what I’d write.”

REX RYAN, JETS COACH

On being 1-5:

“I think you know how I feel about a 1-5 start. It’s not even close to where we thought we’d be. All the wishing and everything else isn’t going to change anything. We have to find ways to win, and we have to do it in a hurry. Going on the road to play Thursday is a big challenge, but I think we have the men in that locker room. We’re going to give every ounce of energy we have at it and prepare. We’re going to go up there and play the best game we possibly can. It would be nice to find a way to win.”

On the play of Geno Smith:

“I thought he had his moments. I thought he played well for the majority of the game. On the interception, we were trying to make a play and force the issue. It got out of his hand a little too quick. For the most part, I thought Geno played OK. We just have to find a way to get a little bit better.”

ERIC DECKER, JETS WR

On any emotions

facing his former team:

“This is a football game. Obviously, a lot of former teammates and a lot of close friends. It’s part of the business when you go to a new team. You have to deal with those emotions throughout the week, and my focus was just to worry about football.”

On what can be done to get more in a flow on offense:

“Be better. Execute better. That’s the bottom line.”
