Rising soul star will make a triumphant return to the U.S. for an arena tour starting in January. The UK singer made a huge splash with the single, “Stay With Me,” and his debut album, “In the Lonely Hour,” opened the charts at No. 1 in the UK and No. 2 on the Billboard charts.

The tour kicks off on Jan. 9 at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta and stops at New York’s Madison Square Garden before hitting Colorado’s on Jan. 26.

The Madison Square Garden gig is a far cry from The Mercury Lounge where Smith toured just one year ago before exploding into popularity based on his soulful vocals and lyrics that tug on the heart strings. “Stay With Me” was a smash hit for the year and, it appears like the second single from “In the Lonely Hour,” the radio heavy “I’m Not the Only One,” is set for heavy rotation.

Sam Smith was nominated for two American Music Awards in the New Artist of the Year category as well as Favorite Male Artist in the pop/rock category. The 1stBank Center show will mark his first headlining appearance in Colorado.

Tickets go on sale at 8 a.m. on Oct. 14.
