Federal workplace safety investigators are conducting an investigation into the death Friday of a road construction worker who was killed on Lefthand Canyon Drive when a truck involved in flood repair backed over him.

State Trooper Josh Lewis identified the victim as Nicolas Arrendondo-Uribe, 46, of Greeley.

Ellie Duran, president of Greeley-based Duran Excavating, confirmed that Arrendondo-Uribe was one of his employees.

“I do not have the specifics right now, so for me to give you information that could be misleading would be bad on my part,” Duran said. “Our thoughts are with the family.”
