FORT COLLINS — New details about the Oct. 5 shooting that left the suspect dead and a Fort Collins police officer injured are expected to be released Monday.
The Coloradoan reports the review by the Larimer County district attorney’s office is expected to include the officer’s name, how many shots were fired, the type of gun used and details about what led to the shooting.
The officer was responding to a request for a welfare check when he approached a man lying in the stairwell of a townhouse complex. Investigators say 27-year-old Tino Martinez pulled a gun and shot the officer, and the officer fired back.
Both were taken to a hospital, where Martinez died. The officer wore a bulletproof vest; his injuries were not life-threatening.
