A Colorado Springs man was arrested and charged with manslaughter in the shooting death of an 18-year-old.
Nickolas Vera was shot and killed on Saturday. Authorities have charged Estevan Meehan, 19, in connection with the incident.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, officers responded to a shooting in the 1000 block of Norwood Avenue at about 8:10 p.m. They found Vera, who died after being transported to a local hospital.
Meehan was arrested and was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
Police said Vera’s death marked the city’s 20th homicide of 2014; at this time last year there were 27 homicides.
