If Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts wants a picture of some homegrown sunflowers (USA! USA! USA!) he should ask Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet.

that the photographs of sunflowers that appear on nearly every page of Roberts’ campaign website were taken by a Ukrainian photographer in Ukraine.

Bennet toured the Eastern Plains after being appointed to the Senate in January 2009. At one point, near Wray or Yuma, the Denver Democrat walked into a field of sunflowers and marveled at Colorado’s beauty.

Roberts, a Republican, faces independent candidate Greg Orman in a race that’s neck-and-neck in the polls. Roberts’ campaign manager, Corry Bliss, took a jab at Orman when asked about the flowers.

“Is this a joke?” he told Buzzfeed. “Itap obviously a stock image used by our digital firm to reflect that Kansas is the Sunflower State. But given the many serious issues facing our country right now, I doubt voters care about this silly line of attack by Greg Orman and his liberal allies.”

But it turns out that two years ago in Connecticut, that ran pictures of a Norwegian sub instead of an American one.
