An alleged member of the Rollin’ 60s street gang wanted by law enforcement authorities turned himself in to Aurora police on Thursday night.
Roderick Penny, 18, of Aurora, was one of by the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office on 73 criminal counts. On Wednesday, Aurora police, along with other agencies, conducted a series of raids that capped a two-year investigation. Penny was the only one of those 25 who was not arrested on Wednesday.
Officials said the joint investigation began in 2012, after Aurora police began tracking an escalation in violent crime in the city. The probe revealed that many of the alleged crimes had connections to the Rollin’ 60s. The gang was originally based out of Los Angeles and grew out of the West Side Crips in the 1970s.
