Call-n-Ride service in Highlands Ranch and Parker looks to be off the chopping block after the staff of the Regional Transportation District recommended keeping it and the board of directors agreed.
The RTD board gave verbal approval to the staff recommendation when it was discussed at a committee meeting Oct. 22, according to RTD spokesman Scott Reed. The board will vote on the services at its Oct. 28 meeting.
. Staff said the service was getting two riders per hour in Parker and Highlands Ranch when it requires three.
Members of Parker and Douglas County governments had been working with RTD to save the services because officials said they are in demand and necessary to accommodate the county’s growing senior population.
Many residents who use the services attended informational meetings on the proposed cuts earlier this month and spoke out.
Call-n-Ride is an on-demand transportation service providing a shuttle that picks up residents and takes them to their desired locations in the communities.
