Doughnuts are an “in” food right now, as evidenced by the popularity of the Denver locations of and .
So why not have a wall of them at your next event?
An “ombre of doughnuts” — 400 raised doughnuts frosted in shades of purple — was just one of the ideas presented at Truth + Dare, a showcase of all things possible from and its three divisions: Catering by Design, By Design Event Decor and Denver’s Picnic Company.
“As the economy improves, people are prepared to make more of an impact on their guests,” observed Ingrid Nagy, who, with her husband, Cade, owns Four Five One Events. “Food, especially, is becoming more and more important. The expectation is that food needs to be good and should be good. You don’t want to just feed your guests, you want to offer something spectacular.”
In winter months, especially, when heartier dishes are popular, hosts can offer their guests biscuits filled with shards of roast chicken, pulled pork or poblano-orange braised pot roast and served in miniature cast-iron skillets.
Truth + Dare was held at the McNichols Civic Center Building and attended by wedding and special event planners, current and previous clients, venue booking agents and hotel publicists.
