Unseasonably warm weather has led to two Colorado ski resorts to delay their openings, scheduled for Halloween.
Keystone Resort and Copper Mountain, citing warm weather conditions, both canceled their Friday openings on Tuesday.
Keystone said it would announce a new opening day as soon as snow conditions permit.
Copper Mountain has rescheduled its opening for Nov. 7.
“Delaying Opening Day was a hard decision to make, but the quality of our snow surface and the experiences of our guests are most important,” Gary Rodgers, president and general manager of Copper Mountain, said in a news release.
“We’re all eager to get in those first turns, but it’s a long season and we want to make sure we’re providing the best conditions and experience possible from day one,” John Buhler, Keystone vice president, told the Summit Daily.
