Clocks will fall back to standard time Sunday at 2 a.m. (AP file)

A few years ago, Congress added a few weeks to daylight saving time. Before 2007, daylight saving time ended just before Halloween. Congress changed it so that now daylight saving time ends the weekend after Halloween.

Here’s why that matters. Kids wait until dark to trick-or-treat. A few years ago it got dark a little after 5. Now itap after 6. So our kids get an hour less time to trick-or-treat. Or they stay out the same length of time and ring our doorbells an hour later.

So, Congress, why don’t you like our children?
