Gary Isaacs took 36 looks. Here is one of them.

A lot of us have spent time in the . Consuming drinks, good and bad, , good and bad. Itap a Colfax institution, a knotty, necessary bump on our civic spine.

Photographer has spent time inside the place, and outside, too. In 2008, he embarked on a project capturing its exterior in all its Colfax-y glory. The title of his new exhibit, “36 Views of the Lion’s Lair,” pretty much explains what he came up with.

Issacs describes it as “a collection of photographs that represent my conscious exploration of a specific limitation suggested to me by my unconscious.” I would call it making a commitment, which is where all interesting art projects start.

See it, but not until November 15 when it opens at Leon gallery, located up-uptown at 1112 East 17th Avenue. It’ll run through January 4. Info: 303-832-1599 or leongallery.com.
