Itap hard to remember a time before , which has been presenting the finest local and national indie rock around from its perch at 7 S. Broadway for a decade-plus.

There was a dark period (however brief) in the Denver music scene when indie rock and punk shows were few and far between. House shows and DIY venues notwithstanding, it was tough to find a reliable place to see, for example, Of Montreal or Spoon after the closure of the 15th Street Tavern, and before the Larimer Lounge helped transform what’s now the RiNo arts district.

Cue the Hi-Dive, which opened 11 years ago on the not-nearly-as-hip-as-it-is-now South Broadway. The place immediately filled a need for touring local and touring indie bands to ply their melodic trade, and over the years has welcomed Fleet Foxes, Vampire Weekend and dozens of others bands just before they hit it big.

The venue began celebrating its decade-plus anniversary with a series of stacked shows on Nov. 6, and they continue through this weekend. Each night offers a diverse slice of raucous party music, which we invite you to peruse below.

The Thursday, Nov. 6 features Cobraconda, Kitty Crimes, Magic Cyclops and Pizza Time. Friday, Nov. 7 is a night of reuninos with Legendary River Drifters, Hollow Talk and Horace Van Vaughn getting back together, with more tunes from Dirty Few and Mako 1979.

On Saturday, Nov. 8, Brainhammer, Zebroids, Eyes and Ears, the Blind Pets and Friends of Cesar Romero will grace the stage, while Sunday, Nov. 9 finds Dudebabes (in their supposedly final appearance) playin with Jermaine and the Sex Party, Warhawk and High Plains Honky.

Shows start at 9:30 p.m. nightly (or 9 p.m. Nov. 9) and cost $10 in advance, $12 at the door. Call 303-733-0230 or visit for more info.
