Regis Jesuit infielder Matt Schmidt announced via Twitter on Tuesday that he has committed to the University of Texas baseball program.

“Blessed to say I have committed to play baseball at the University of Texas,” Schmidt tweeted. “Thank you to every one of you who has helped me get here.”

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Schmidt had a .382 batting average with seven doubles, two home runs and 17 RBIs for the Raiders, helping them to the 5A state championship game last season.
