COLORADO SPRINGS — Scores of hotly contested races and ballot issues this November drove more El Paso County voters to the polls — and their mailboxes — than any previous midterm election.
By Tuesday’s 7 p.m. deadline, nearly 67 percent of the 340,000 voters who received ballots in the mail had turned them in.
In 2010, the county’s previous record year, there was about a 54 percent turnout.
