For the birds

The Gabriel Foundation hosts a “Holiday Toy Making Workshop” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 8 at its headquarters, 1025 Acoma St. The Gabriel Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to parrot welfare through care and adoptions, will also have new bird toys for sale. “Return & Recycle”

FLOR Inc. is celebrating America Recycles Day on Nov. 15 by collecting and recycling carpets and rugs in an effort to combat the estimated 4 billions pounds of carpet discarded every year in the United States. Western fine arts, pueblo pottery, Navajo textiles, decorative arts, Southwestern jewelry and beadwork will be featured at the Arts of the American West Auction presented by Leslie Hindman Auctioneers on Nov. 13. Property from private collectors and institutions is also available including inventory from the estates of Alan D. Filipino culture

The Aurora History Museum has partnered with the Philippine American Society of Colorado for a two-hour lantern making workshop beginning at 10 a.m. Nov. 15 at the museum, 15051 E. Alameda Parkway. Participants are invited to experience the communal “bayanihan” spirit and learn about the Christmas tradition celebrated in the Philippines for centuries. $12; includes supplies.
