Getting your player ready...

BOULDER — Following Colorado’s first practice since the Buffaloes’ 38-20 loss Saturday night at Arizona, CU coach Mike MacIntyre confirmed Tuesday that sophomore starting quarterback Sefo Liufau did sustain a concussion in the game.

“Sefo is doing all right,” MacIntyre said. “He’s still a little concussed. He’s doing OK. He’s making progress like you would. But he’s still out for a while.”

MacIntyre said Liufau is going through the school’s mandated concussion protocol. That means it’s too early to speculate on Liufau’s availability for the next game, Nov. 22 at third-ranked Oregon.

The fact that this weekend is an open date for Colorado should better the odds that Liufau will not miss a game. He suffered the concussion in the fourth quarter against Arizona while being hit after throwing an interception.

“Sefo is going through the same protocol, the same concussion process, as any other player,” MacIntyre said. The medical staff “has this whole process they go through.

“It’s an intensive, extensive process. Doctors tell me when the player is ready to go. I just wait until they tell me.”
