COLORADO SPRINGS — A former Colorado Springs-area high school teacher accused of striking male students’ genitals — what he called doing “cup checks” — has been sentenced to at least eight years in prison.
The Gazette reported 30-year-old Lee Edward Riddle, who taught German at Widefield High School, was given an indeterminate sentence Monday.
He was convicted in August of five counts of sex assault on a child by a person in a position of trust.
Judge Thomas Kennedy says that although the children were not physically injured, the emotional damage Riddle caused them is likely severe.
The judge added that Riddle’s behavior amounted to more than horseplay.
