Interview with Marko Stathopoulous, owner
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: My entire family has been in the restaurant business for more than 30 years. My parents, Tom and Angie, opened Athenian in 2001. I have always loved being around the restaurant and decided that I would like to continue in the family business.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: Well, there are many things that make us different from other places, one being that we are family owned. Our menu is prepared by us. Tom, my father and an owner, is the chef, as well, so all the items are always perfect. Angie, my mother, is a baker and makes all the desserts. Our service staff will always reccomend wine, beer or a cocktail to pair perfectly with your meal.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: The customers. Our customers have made us a succes. Without them, we would not be where we are today.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
A: There are many challenges in this line of work.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: We serve more than just Greek food. My father makes a killer pork green chili. I am very excited to be taking on the role of owner of this fabulous, authentic Greek restaurant so that my parents may one day retire.
