A Ph.D. engineer in medical applications and his wife searched all over Denver’s Highlands and the 9th-and-Colorado areas, and then all over Stapleton, before arriving at some stylish, contemporary row homes you’ll see this afternoon – just south of Stapleton’s vast Central Park. The engineer, who spends lots of time flying nationally and internationally (he asked that his name not be used), is about to receive a huge dividend in time saved getting to-and-from DIA, when the couple moves into The Terrace Homes at Stapleton, by Wonderland Homes.

They’re among 17 buyers that Wonderland already has for The Terrace Homes – a third of the 53 sites already spoken for – a skip-hop-and-jump from Stapleton’s popular Westerly Creek trail corridor, and a bike-able three miles from the Fitzsimons Anschutz medical campus. Wonderland’s Lisa Pirkl says the buyers are a diverse bunch – some older (Wonderland has a limited number of main-floor master suite designs); some younger, some single – but she notes that they’re all adamant about wanting a lifestyle with no maintenance.

“We’re not interested in a house with a yard,” said the engineer, who plans to use Light Rail for some of his frequent DIA trips, once East Rail line arrives three-quarters of a mile north of here in 2016.

That doesn’t mean, however, that the couple had no interest in outdoor living space. “There’s a nice-sized patio to entertain guests,” the engineer added. Wonderland is providing all of these with an eye-catching outdoor living area on a rooftop deck – a party-sized outdoor terrace area, but also a good-sized interior room designed for entertaining. You’ll see that in the model – along with the views that these homes will have north across the park and west to a wide sweep of mountain peaks — and you can explore the option for adding additional guest-suite/entertaining area in a 9-foot finished basement, for as little as $30,000 extra. (Practically all of Wonderland’s buyers, notes Vice President Michael R. Hart, are taking advantage of that.)

Pirkl will also show you the standard features for prices starting in the mid-$400s: ten-foot ceilings on the main level; 42-inch cabinets, slab granite counters, self-closing drawers and a Bosch stainless appliance package in the kitchen; and generous hardwood floors across most of the main level. The Terrace Homes are a mile from grocery shopping and popular dining in Stapleton Town Center and have the new rec center just east across Westerly Creek trail corridor.

To tour the square feet shown with two bedrooms and a main-floor study, 2,241 square feet, from Quebec Street at Town Center in Stapleton, take MLK east a mile (continuing past Central Park Boulevard, past Xenia Street) and watch for the pullout on the right.
