A body was found Monday near the location of a search for a missing Teller County woman.
At about 5 p.m., officials from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office were conducting a death investigation as well as a missing person investigation.
Just before 6:30 p.m., the office said it was no longer conducting the latter, indicating that the recovered body likely belongs to Kathleen Ann Leber, 57, of Woodland Park.
The cause of death does not appear to be suspicious.
Leber was reported missing Sunday night. Her car was located on Colorado 67 early Monday and was later towed by the Colorado State Patrol. The vehicle had gone through a wire fence and came to rest hitting a tree, authorities said, sustaining minor damage.
The sheriff’s office said the unidentified body was discovered at about 3 p.m. Monday. Spokesman Sgt. Ron Hanavan said it would take time for investigators to determine the identity of the body.
