The holidays are just around the corner, but One Direction gave pop fans their Christmas present early this year. That’s right, today they released their fourth album titled, well, “FOUR”. Last week they released a few tracks to people who pre-ordered the album off iTunes, and like every thing does these days, the full album leaked early. However, we waited patiently for the whole thing to be downloaded into our accounts before giving it a full listen. So here are our track by track thoughts on the first listen.
Steal My Girl: All that comes to mind is Danny DeVito. And Harry Styles in that coat that could pay off my student loans. But, really, why Danny DeVito?
Ready to Run: This song is 100% going to be used in a car commercial and then that is going to be the first car for 16 year olds everywhere in 2015.
Where Do Broken Hearts Go: Well, here’s the male response to Taylor Swift’s latest. So ’80s.
18: Isn’t this cute. Obviously written by Ed Sheeran. Dare I say 5 Seconds of Summer’s “18” is better?
Girl Almighty: Well isn’t this snappy! I have absolutely no idea what they are saying, but I can’t stop listening!
Fool’s Gold: Oooh I get it. Cause the girl is kind of a player, so she fools him. Clever, boys.
Night Changes: This is the next single. Zayn sounds amazing. Where was Zayn this morning on the Today show? Where is Zayn ever? Does he exist when we don’t see him?
No Control: This. Song. Goes. Off! LOUIS! Even if you don’t know which one is Louis, he is your favorite. At least for the 3 minutes and 20 seconds of this song.
Fireproof: They released this one as a free download when the album was announced. So like, it’s good but we are totally already over it. Sorry, bros.
Spaces: This one could be about girls, but it is definitely about their friendship. This is a bromance song.
Stockholm Syndrome: It’s funny because being a One Direction fan is kind of like having Stockholm Syndrome. I wish I knew how to quit you…
Clouds: Love when bands end their album on a rousing upbeat note. This is a soaring album closer. This will sound amazing echoing through stadiums around the world
Deluxe Tracks
Change Your Ticket: Okay someone tell me WHY all the best songs are always bonus tracks? This might be the best song they have ever written. Fact.
Illusion: You can’t convince me this isn’t Backstreet Boys. This is a Backstreet Boys song.
Once in a Lifetime: Always have to have a guitar driven ballad, don’t you? It is part of the pop formula.
Act My Age: This one is basically an Irish drinking song. If Niall was a song, it would be this one.
