What a difference a week of bitter cold makes. Most smaller waters have developed an ice cap, but safe ice still remains elusive along the front range. Those looking for open water will find larger reservoirs Boyd, Horsetooth, Carter, Chatfield, Aurora and Cherry Creek to be good options. Trout fishing will be the best bet with the cooling waters. A few brave souls have been venturing out on 2-3 inches of ice at Estes and Georgetown lakes.
